As my two-month remote internship at Katrium OÜ comes to an end, I would like to share some reflections on this valuable experience.
I came across the opportunity while searching for internship placements required by my studies. Katrium’s posting for student intern immediately stood out. The role combined multilingual market research, content creation, and talent sourcing within a compact, agile Estonian-based team — an ideal blend of marketing, communication, and people-focused responsibilities that align closely with my interests.
I applied because I sought practical, hands-on experience in an international environment. With a background in management, my goals included developing digital skills, understanding remote collaboration, and taking ownership of meaningful projects in a setting where interns contribute directly rather than merely observe.
The experience surpassed my expectations in every way.
Key Responsibilities and Achievements
During the two-month remote internship, I:
- Created recruitment posters and visual materials
- Managed targeted Facebook campaigns to source Dutch-, Greek-, and Slovak-speaking participants for market research interviews
- Posted over 100 tailored outreach messages
- Tracked applications and supported the evaluation process
- Contributed to weekly team discussions and helped secure qualified candidates
These tasks allowed me to refine messaging for diverse cultural and linguistic contexts while gaining practical insight into organic social media outreach and applicant tracking.
I also strengthened my skills in content creation, data organisation using tools like Google Sheets, and basic performance analysis (such as monitoring conversion rates). Equally important was developing resilience: adapting to varying response rates, following up effectively, and iterating based on results and feedback.
Supportive Guidance and Team Collaboration in Remote Internship
The weekly meetings with Ekaterina and Viktoria were particularly valuable. Their constructive feedback, encouragement, and approachable leadership made me feel genuinely supported and part of the team. This environment fostered both professional growth and motivation throughout the placement.
Thriving in a Remote-First Setting
The fully remote structure worked seamlessly. Working from my own space with flexible hours helped me build strong self-discipline, clear written and video communication, and proactive updates. While I missed in-person interactions, the culture of trust, regular check-ins, and open channels ensured strong connection and prevented any sense of isolation.
Lasting Impact and Future Outlook of Remote Internship
This internship effectively bridged academic theory with real-world application. It provided concrete achievements I can highlight in future opportunities and reinforced my interest in digital marketing — particularly in international and luxury-brand contexts.
I am grateful for the chance to contribute meaningfully and hope to be remembered as a reliable, creative, and engaged team member.
Recommendation for Future Interns
I would highly recommend this internship to students in business, communications, HR, or related fields who are seeking international exposure, remote flexibility, and genuine responsibility in marketing, recruitment, or multilingual projects. It is especially well-suited for those who thrive in supportive, agile teams.
Gratitude to the Katrium Team
Thank you to Katri, Viktoria, and the entire Katrium team for the guidance, trust, and opportunities provided. This experience has left me more confident, skilled, and motivated for the next steps in my career.
