When arriving in Estonia, and starting my internship at Katrium, the future felt cloudy. Would I succeed or Would I fail? Would I develop the necessary skills to become a valuable member? The truth is, as my first professional experience, I had a lot of questions. However, from the moment I stepped into the office, I felt I was exactly where I needed to be. Tasks were given and explained to me in the most accurate and efficient way possible and everyone, including the interns, who would help me with all the doubts I could have, which showed how much even the people who were working at Katrium for not long, had already mastered the information that was given to them.
Professional growth in Katrium
Having a kind and encouraging supervisor, who would dedicate her time helping us to understand the tasks ahead of us, made me feel listened to and already a valuable member. During my time in Katrium, I had the chance to contribute in several areas such as market research projects, blog writing, database work, translations, and project management. This variety of tasks helped me grow my multitasking skills and understand how different tasks can help a business grow. I gained a big hands-on experience with Microsoft Excel, which I now feel confident using. It’s one of the most important tools on the job market. Apart from all of this, the biggest accomplishment wasn’t only the tasks, but the shift in how I see myself in the professional world. I came in unsure of where I stood in the job market, and I left feeling like an asset- someone who can actually bring value to the team. This came entirely from being part of a company who made me feel included.
The office experience
Katrium is not just a company. It’s a place where people support each other and celebrate when you’re able to overcome obstacles, and encourage you to keep going. One of the most memorable parts of my experience was the team building activities. It wasn’t just fun. It was the way it showed the company’s spirit: friendly, humble, collaborative.
Challenges also came as expected and the biggest was learning to be independent and take initiative without waiting for constant guidance. But even with challenges arising, nothing stopped me from getting better and more independent and seeing how independence and self-management are important in any career path, and I’m more than grateful to have acquired these skills.
Why you should apply for an internship in Katrium
If you’re considering applying to Katrium, here’s my honest advice: Do it. You’ll gain a complex vision of the job market, you’ll grow in ways you thought you already mastered, and you’ll develop real and necessary skills across different areas. But, most importantly, you’ll meet people who genuinely care about your progress and want to see you succeed. Katrium gave more than an internship. It gave me confidence, skills and a sense of purpose I need to grow both professionally and personally. Here, I wasn’t “just an intern”, I was a part of the Katrium family.
