How it all started: an internship with Katrium
I found Katrium through my university’s counseling center’s Instagram page, where they usually post job advertisements and internship offers. Studying for two degrees meant I also needed to do two internships. Luckily, the internship with Katrium was a perfect choice that suited both of my degree requirements. For the first degree in humanities, which focused on English language and culture, I was writing blogs in English, and for the second one focused on international business, my main tasks were B2B and B2C calls. Katrium mainly focuses on business process outsourcing solutions (BPO), so my tasks were associated with that.
Blog writing
There is a possibility of writing blogs in English, Estonian, and Finnish. Topics vary from market research to the list of call centers in Estonia. Here are some examples of the blogs that interns have written: Focus Groups: Benefits for Market Research, Virtuaalassistendi teenused muudavad haldusülesanded sujuvamaks, Asiakaspalvelutaidot top 5. Writing a blog can help you improve your language abilities. Quality blogs require extensive prior research, which benefits understanding of the subject. The intern chooses whether to write one blog a week or more. The intern writes a blog based on a keyword to maintain SEO readability.
B2B and B2C calls
B2B calls are business-to-business calls. During B2B calls, an intern calls from the company and makes a proposal. During my internship at Katrium, I also did cold calling. I called organizations under the name of a particular company, offering them a deal. I asked if they would like more information via email and if they would be open to further discussion. B2C calls, in other words, inbound and outbound calls, were made daily. Clients called to book a timeslot, and I made reservations for them through the system. Sometimes I had to call them back to negotiate a time and let them know our earliest availability.
What I have learned: an internship with Katrium
Thanks to my internship with Katrium, I now have a direct understanding of the operations and organizational structure of a company. I now know more about the client services system and staff management. I can declare with confidence that my business adventure has begun, and I am now better equipped to handle any obstacles this industry may present. The fact that interns at Katrium come from all over the world allowed me to immerse myself in other cultures, even for a short while, which was one of my favorite aspects of accepting this position.
I would recommend an internship with Katrium to everyone interested in finding out all the ins and outs of business process outsourcing (BPO), trying themselves at cold calling, leveling up in blog writing, or receiving international experience.
