How I Found Katrium and What My Expectations Were
After completing my first year of studies, I began thinking about how to complete the practical training that was an important part of my degree. After scrolling through an uncountable number of pages with job listings, I eventually found my way to LinkedIn, where I came across Katrium. I read the description and applied. After the interview, I was inspired to start my internship by the way in which Katri was kind and understanding; she gave me a complete picture of what Katrium is and what work looks like there. I immediately felt it was the right opportunity for me. I hoped that in this internship position I would be able to express myself, be creative, test my patience, challenge myself in new areas, and gain valuable insights into how this type of remote company works.
What were my responsibilities?
My responsibilities varied depending on my availability and the company’s needs. Throughout the internship, my key tasks included communicating with candidates via email, answering questions, resolving issues, and providing clarification when needed. I was also responsible for creating and publishing job advertisements on Facebook and LinkedIn. One of my biggest achievements was growing Katrium’s Facebook community from 100 to 1,500 members within three months. This experience helped me develop creativity, marketing knowledge, and social media management skills. Just two weeks after starting my internship, I was also responsible for onboarding new interns and provided assistance throughout their period of integration into Katrium’s fast-paced working environment. This was the most valuable thing to learn for me, since I have never seen myself in management or leadership roles, but now I do. Katrium allowed me to discover strengths I did not know I had by giving me meaningful responsibility from the very beginning.
What Conclusions Did I Draw and What Did I Learn for My Future?
The internship taught me how to prioritize tasks, manage responsibilities, and work independently. I also improved my professional communication skills, particularly through email correspondence and recruitment activities. In addition, I learned that while remote work offers many advantages, it is not the environment I would ideally choose for my future career. Understanding my own preferences was an important outcome of the experience.
Working in recruitment also helped me improve my communication skills. I gained valuable experience interacting with candidates professionally and learned how to write clear, formal, and effective emails. These skills are essential in virtually any professional role and will continue to benefit me in the future.
