International Contact Center: An Ideal Workplace?

International contact center appeared as my solution. I used to live in a cold country in the Nordic countries, Sweden. I never liked winter with snow and ice. But for a long time I dreamed of moving away from Sweden to a warmer country. I joked about being born in the wrong country. So, moving abroad has been one of my biggest dreams.

Nevertheless, there has always been one thing that makes me hesitate, how do I make money and survive? My experience and previous jobs include customer service, contact center and sales representative. I also worked for a large logistics company in HK, USA. And my boss was at the European headquarters in Amsterdam. That’s why all work and meetings were in English, so I wouldn’t have any problem working in an international environment with English-speaking companies and companies. So I started looking for jobs where you don’t have to live in one particular country. As I mentioned, I like to travel, see the world and work as a freelancer.

I quickly noticed that many international and Swedish companies were looking for employees for their contact centers. And that you can work as a freelancer wherever you live.

Contact Center Vs. Call Center

I always wonder what the difference is between call center and a contact center. I really do not know. But customer service more or less just works with the phone as a call center, taking incoming calls, making outgoing calls, and often handling large volumes of calls. At the same time, the contact center works with different channels. It does many other things: invoicing, marketing and generally taking care of social media and chat channel. This is my opinion about the differences and also my experience from my previous jobs.

Outsourcing As A Booster

When I started looking for jobs abroad, I also realized that companies often outsource their contact centers. For example, Swedish companies need Swedish-speaking staff, but hire staff only through other companies. And this is perfect for me because when you don’t work for a particular company, you don’t have to be in their office, you can live anywhere in the world.

This is probably why I needed help looking for a job from the beginning. I looked through the websites of certain companies regarding the job, but I couldn’t find them. Now I found companies that have many different jobs to offer from companies that choose to outsource their projects. When you decide to work like this in other positions of different companies, you will get a lot of good experience. Working in an international contact center means I can draw on all my experience and know I’m doing a good job.

As you probably already realized, I quit my permanent job in Sweden some time ago and have started my adventure worldwide. Working in an international environment in such a contact center at least suits me!
